Resource Expo for
Families and
Guardians of
Disabled

Individuals with
disabilities and
those who have an
interest in their
welfare face many
challenging
day-to-day issues.
To address these
issues and provide
accurate
information, Allied
Rehabilitation
Centers will sponsor
a Resource Expo on
Thursday, October
16, from 4:00 to
8:00 p.m. The Expo
will be presented
free-of-charge at
the Clarion Inn &
Suites in East
Windsor.
"This will be an
informative evening
for parents, family
members, guardians,
residential
providers and other
interested parties,"
states Edward
LaMontagne, Allied's
Vice President of
Community Programs.
"Our goal is to
provide new and
updated information
essential to the
lives of individuals
with disabilities."
The Resource Expo
will feature
information booths
dealing with a
variety of topics,
including advocacy;
behavioral
intervention;
scooters and medical
equipment; community
based programs &
services; family
supports; and future
planning. Also,
guardianship; health
services; leisure &
recreation; Medicaid
waiver programs;
options for an aging
population;
school-to-work
transition; Social
Security/SSA; and
others.
Representatives from
the Department of
Developmental
Disabilities (DDS)
and other state and
local agencies,
along with
businesses that
serve the disabled
population, will be
on hand to provide
information and
answer questions.
Seminars will also
be presented during
the course of the
evening addressing
topics pertinent to
caring for
individuals with
disabilities.
"Financial Planning
for the Future" and
the "DDS Waiver
Program" will be
included.
A staffed respite
room will be
available throughout
the evening. To
