DR. ALBERT KERKIN,
JR. RETIRES FROM
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
AT ROCKVILLE BANK
ROCKVILLE,
CONN., October 30,
2006 - Dr. Albert J.
Kerkin, Jr. recently
completed his last
term on the Board of
Directors of
Rockville Financial,
Inc., the holding
company for
Rockville Bank. He
was first elected to
the Board of
Directors in 1992
and served for 14
years in various
positions. He was a
member of the Human
Resources Committee
and served as its
Chairman for several
years. He also was a
member of the
Lending Committee,
served as
Vice-Chairman of the
Board for three
years, and as
Chairman of the
Board from 2001
until his retirement
on August, 22, 2006.
He is succeeded as
Chairman by Betty R.
Sullivan of
Manchester, Conn.,
who most recently
served as the
Board's Vice
Chairman.
Over the years, Dr.
Kerkin was involved
in many of the
programs and
activities that
Rockville Bank
provides in the
communities it
serves. Two areas
were especially
important to him:
the academic and
vocational
scholarships
provided to public
high school students
in each community
the Bank serves; and
Rockville Bank's
continued emphasis
on remaining the
best independent
community bank in
the State of
Connecticut.
Prior to serving on
the Board of
Directors, Dr.
Kerkin was a
professional
educator for over 34
years. He served 10
years as
Superintendent of
Schools in Vernon,
Connecticut.
