On Saturday August 10, 2019, from 12-4 pm come out and join the East Windsor Historical Society in celebrating the Grand Opening of the Barber Hill Schoolhouse during their annual ice cream social! This event will feature a wide variety of activities for the whole family. There will be free ice cream and horse drawn wagon rides, even free haircuts in the Broad Brook Barber Shop Museum and a free marriage ceremony on the steps of the Probate Courthouse Museum.

Antique cars and tractors will be on display in addition to new exhibits scattered throughout the various museums. Gaze upon the antique toy circus on display in the Osborn House in memory of the Hartford Circus fire and join in the silhouette drawing activity in the newly finished Barber Hill Schoolhouse. There will be an area for young visitors to try their skills at building a stone wall and the always popular Calliope will be returning this year.

New to the event will be local artisan booths in addition to regional historical society booths. This year local juried artisans, crafters and upcycle vendors will be showcasing their varied wares so patrons are encouraged to bring their wallets in case they find that special treasure they can’t do without. Hungry visitors will also be able to purchase food at two food trucks, Sylvia’s Hot Dogs and Off the Griddle, before heading off the next activity or exhibit.
This event is free and open to the public. East Windsor Historical Society’s Museums on the Green is located at 115 Scantic Road, East Windsor,
