Nutmeg is Thankful
it could continue to Give Rides-Volunteers are the “Heart of this Program”

Recently we were interviewed by Marc Warnock on his program “Focus” on Cox in Enfield.  His last questions was “What is the one thing that you are most thankful for during this crisis?”.

To us it is that we had the structure to be able to continue to provide rides.  We have always had a mix of staff and volunteer drivers.  When the volunteers had to isolate we were able to continue with staff.

Normally we give 700 rides a month but in April that dropped to 182.  We were able to give every ride that was requested.  In June some volunteers returned and our rides are now running at 500 a month.

This week we were able to help a family in Windsor in a way that was unique.  On Monday we received a call at 7 AM.  Amberwoods in Farmington had moved her husband into Hospice.  At 8 AM we picked her up and she visited until noon.

A second ride was scheduled for Wednesday but sadly her husband passed overnight. That afternoon we took her to Carmon Funeral Home to make arrangements.

We are family.  Your loss is our loss, your celebration is ours!
