So let’s talk about seeds. . . A lot of people think there is one way to plant seeds, you put a seed in the soil, cover it up, water it and germination begins. That certainly is how it works for some seed, but not all! We grow a mix of herbs, veggies and flowers from seed and they all have unique requirements for germination. Seeds come in all shapes and sizes. Some seeds need to be planted on the surface of the soil because they require light to germinate. Some seeds we have to refrigerate first, some we have to soak overnight and some we have to roughen up with sandpaper. Some are so tiny, that they come pelleted, meaning they are coated with a water soluble coating so you can at least see what you are planting. Some seeds germinate in a few days and others can take three weeks.
In case you haven’t noticed, we get pretty excited about seeds around here! 🌱🌻🌼🌺No photo description available.
