Syme Family Farm has been chosen by the East Windsor Chamber of Commerce as the “East Windsor Business of the Year 2020 and will be Honored by The East Windsor Chamber of Commerce at their 25th Annual Meeting in June.

Syme Family Farm was chosen “Business of the Year 2020 ” for its Business Practices and Support of Our Community, Region and State.

Syme Family Farm is a diversified Family Farm located in East Windsor in the Village of Broad Brook, operated by the Wife and Husband Team Jen and Bill Syme along with Their Daughters Emily and Becca.

Syme Family Farm are Growers of “Spring Greenhouse Crops”, “Specialty Cut Flowers”, “Fall Mums” and “Christmas Trees”..  

The two daughters raise dairy and beef cows as well as a large flock of laying hens as part of their 4H projects.

Selling  plants and flowers at two local farmers markets, the South Windsor Farmers Market and the Collinsville Farmers Market in addition to their “Cut Flower Club CSA” and also retailing at the farm has made Syme Family Farm well known in not just East Windsor but the Region.

Bill is the Branch Manager and Crop Consultant at Nutrien Ag Services, formerly Crop Production Services, here in Broad Brook.  Bill serves on the EW Board of Finance, is a member of Ct Farm Bureau and is a 4H Leader.

Jen runs and manages the farm full time and is in charge of the growing, harvesting and marketing their farm products.  She is also a 4H Leader.

Emily is a freshman at the University of Connecticut College of Agriculture where she is majoring in Plant and Soil Science. She was very active at Rockville High School where she was President of the Rockville FFA Chapter and has also been very active in Hartford County 4H for the past 12 years.

Becca is a sophomore at East Windsor High School. Becca is on the EWHS Track team, a member of Model Congress and the EWHS Band and has been very active in Hartford County 4H for 9 years. Both girls are an integral part of the farm and are active in all animal and plant responsibilities around the farm.  They both exhibit and show their cattle at local, regional and national cattle shows.

Jen and Bill having  lived in town for 22 years decided in 2010 to not only lease land fro grwoing but to build a new Home  for the Syme Family Farm on Windsorville Road in Broad Brook.

Syme Family Farm is  promoters and believers of “Connecticut Grown” Farm products and the concept of Buying and Supporting Local Agriculture.

 Agricultural producers from our Region and State have an array of amazing products and Syme family Farm is always ready to try to educate the public about local agriculture.

Syme Family Farm Does from hosting  “Farm Field Trips” for Broad Brook Elementary School 2nd Graders,collecting donations during Christmas tree season for the Local 5 Corner Cupboard Food Pantry to hosting a Wine Tasting last fall to benefit the East Windsor Booster Club.
