The Year 2025 is very special for the East Windsor Chamber of Commerce and it’s Executive Director James “Jimbo” Richards as they celebrate milestones.

30 Years ago in  1995 East Windsor’s longstanding group the The East Windsor Business Association decided it was time for a change.

This Business Group had led the charge for expansion of the Sewer Plant and the Construction of the Theaters which became the incubator for what is now East Windsor’s Commercial Corridors Route 5, 140 and the Warehouse Point Area.

In September of 1995 they had finalized the paperwork to become the East Windsor Chamber of Commerce Inc. which has been representing Businesses in East Windsor since.

Jimbo was the transition President for these two groups and was instrumental in the changeover before his professional pursuits led him out of the Community,

In 2005 Jimbo had returned to East Windsor and was serving on the Town’s Economic Development Commission when it was decided the Town needed a way to promote itself.

Having no budget the Commission decided to utilize the East Windsor Chamber of Commerce and because Jimbo was familiar with it he was sent to meet with them.

Having met with them at the Monthly meeting they agreed to work more with the Town to promote the Community as a whole but they needed someone to take on a leadership role as a volunteer.

Jimbo said he would bring what little skills he had to the task and began his 20 year career with East Windsor Chamber of Commerce as Executive Director.

The weekly newsletter “East Winds” was created and originally faxed to members (and a few others) every week.

Programs were created like “Casual Business Network”, “Speed Dating for Business” and “2nd Wednesday” to name a few.

Times did change and the “East Winds” became an electronic Newsletter sent each week to now over 2000 Subscribers and Our ongoing Monthly meeting is 1st Thursday each month. (this does not include occasional programs like ‘Business After Hours’ etc).

East Windsor Chamber of Commerce with an average of 135 members continues to work to make East Windsor “Where the Sun Rises” on Business & Community.
