Unforgettable Fire – Tribute to U2

Friday, September 8, 2023 – 8:00 PM EDT

UNFORGETTABLE FIRE – Tribute to U2 Unforgettable Fire, or “UF”, was born on New Years Day in 1995 as one of the very first U2 tribute bands to ever perform in America. After twenty years of playing in some of the most prestigious venues on the East Coast, UF has formed a reputation among many to be one of the closest experiences to being at an actual live U2 show. The members of UF are also very dedicated fans of U2, and will not settle for anything less than complete authenticity. In addition to performing a very impressive array of U2 material from pre-Boy to the most recent Songs of Innocence and beyond, the band does everything in their power (from wardrobe to lighting) to recreate the live U2 concert setting for their audiences. In 2015, UF was invited to perform at The Cutting Room in New York City for the 20th Anniversary Party for the U2 fan website ”@U2.” Not planned was the sudden and surprise appearance of both The Edge and Adam Clayton, who showed up a little before 9:00 PM and played two songs with UF—much to the shock and delight of everyone in the club. One of UF’s last founding members from 1995, drummer George (Larry) Levesanos, still performs with the band. George is a veteran drummer on the New York City music scene and has performed in many other projects before forming UF. Joining the band in the summer of 2001 was singer Tony (Bono) Russo. Over the years, Tony has brought UF to a new level of authenticity as he is regarded as one of the country’s top Bono look-a-likes. In late 2002, bassist Craig (Adam) Kiell added his top notch musicianship, experience, and stage presence to the band and has been a crucial part of the solid rhythm section ever since. Late 2004 brought Mick (Edge) Normoyle to the band to complete the last piece of its puzzle in its quest to have the truest, most authentic live U2 sound. All four members of UF are talented musicians in their own right, but together they are committed to bring their audiences the best possible U2 show that they can deliver.

Giroux Woodworking Artisan Boutique & Craft Studio

Some of you may have noticed we recently changed the Name of The Playful Peacock page. We have exciting news to share of the next chapter in our crafting adventure. 7 years after the store in Windsor Locks closed, we have been given an amazing opportunity to try again, this time under a different name, Giroux Woodworking.
We have been trying to merge our Facebook pages together as we use our other page more often. Another local business opened with a peacock themed name after we closed the WL store so we have decided to go a different direction to avoid brand confusion. We had to change the name of both pages to try to merge and unfortunately it’s not working.
Please feel free to like our other Facebook page to keep up with our new adventure! Giroux Woodworking Artisan Boutique & Craft Studio is the new page.

Joel Hoekstra & Brandon Gibbs!

Saturday, September 9, 2023 – 8:00 PM EDT

Whitesnake’s Joel Hoekstra and Devil City Angels’ Brandon Gibbs have joined forces to form a powerhouse acoustic duo, playing limited dates in between working with their many other successful projects. Their live duo performances are both intimate and high-energy, featuring a wide variety of material from bands that each of them has been a part of, along with innovative original music, and great stories from their respective careers. The energy and stage presence that radiates from these two make this a “must see” show. Their mix of song choices leaves the audience begging for more as there is literally something for everyone. Both Brandon and Joel have a long history of bands they have either been a part of or performed with including Whitesnake, Devil City Angels, Poison, Night Ranger, Cher, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra to name only a few. While this show has an intimate vibe, don’t let that fool you; the sound is bigger than ever with these two guitar extraordinaires bringing it home every show!

Uprooted Duo: Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root with Dirk Miller Duo!

Friday, September 15, 2023 – 8:00 PM EDT

Michael Glabicki & Dirk Miller of Rusted Root

In addition to the full band, Glabicki strips down to the bare essentials on a duo tour where he and longtime bandmate Dirk Miller take the old Rusted Root favorites along with new material and perform reenvisioned versions of them in an up close and intimate setting. “We go into the crevices of the songs and expand them out and open up the music to whatever happens in the moment,” Glabicki says of his shows with Miller. “It’s completely improvisational, to the point where we surprise ourselves a lot. Things just happen, and I start laughing. It’s like we’ve never heard it sound like that before. We have a great time with it and the audience seems to enjoy the musical exploration too.” A multifaceted musician, producer and songwriter, Glabicki’s talents are unique and extremely uplifting. His new projects and music are extensions of his creative talent and will inspire all those who participate.
