The past few years the Enforcement of Business Sign regulations was relaxed (or seemed to be ) due to the tough economic times which many Businesses appreciated.
Over the years it has been noted that East Windsor has some of the strictest regulations in the area for Businesses.
Even the Sandwich signs which Business can now use on an intermittent basis was allowed with the hard work of the EWCC staff to provide P&Z with info/stats to update/improve the regulation regarding them.
While many adjoining Communities have similar regulations regarding signs/flags/banners the enforcement of these have seem to be not enforced.
This is understandable since the reality is Business has not recovered from the recent years of turmoil and enforcement has remained quiet.
East Windsor was like that however recently the East Windsor Chamber of Commerce has received calls/messages from Businesses concerned or affected by what seems to be the renewed enforcement of Our Communities Business Sign Regulations.
First the EWCC encourages All Businesses to comply with any requests from the Town to remain legal and if You wish to change your situation quickly maybe apply to the Zoning Board of Appeals can provide some relief.(Caution they can only act if You can prove a Hardship)
With that in mind maybe it is time for the Planning and Zoning Commission to take a relook a at these regulations and see if there is not some room for improvement especially along the Our Commercial Corridors (RTE 5 and 140).
To that end for the EWCC to approach them we need to provide some statistics/facts/stories/suggestions on what to update or improve.
The following is a simple survey which you can email back to [email protected]
