Trolley Care Program- May 4th

The Connecticut Trolley Museum is happy to announce the return of the Trolley Care Program for those who are interested in the mechanical side of trolley cars, and want to help maintain, repair, and restore the trolleys. The program is to provides a fun, hands-on learning experience working on the trolleys. The program explores all facets of trolley car operation and how trolleys work. The Trolley Care program will be held on selected Saturdays from 9 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. starting May 4th. The program is geared towards ages 15 and older. The first session will be a “Introduction to Maintenance” focus. For the rest of the program, we’ll be working on a variety of exciting & innovative projects. All you have to do is show up at 9 AM and we will go from there. This program is for current volunteers and volunteers to be.

Anything that Moves- May 11th

Prepare to be swept away by electrifying movements during CTM’s Anything that Moves event. The Museum will be showcasing some of their collection including equipment that are not normally viewable. Experience the golden age of transportation as trolley cars operate and are visible on static display. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this unforgettable event. You will have the opportunity to take a ride on an antique streetcar and enjoy the entire museum plus the Fire Truck Museum located on the same property as the CT Trolley Museum.

Cars to be ran are 836, 1326, 355, 4, 16, 303, 18, Diesel 1, S193 & Line Car 1. Car 101 & 65 will be on display for viewing. The Pump Car, Velocipede, Tie Crane, Bucket Truck & more will be on display too.

Tickets can be purchased when you arrive at the Museum.

Mother’s Day-May 12th
Spend a few hours with the family while enjoying all the Museum has to offer. Take a trolley ride operated by period dressed motormen. Learn historic information about each car you ride and how the museum began. Inside the Visitor Center you will find more static trolley cars and artifacts, a theater showing a short film about trolleys and a gift shop to buy that ‘special’ souvenir. On the same grounds is the Connecticut Fire Truck Museum complete with antique fire trucks and apparatus. All activities and Fire Truck Museum entrance is included with your admission price. The Museum will honor Mothers and Grandmothers FREE admission with a paid child or adult admission.

Homeschool Day- May 17th

The Connecticut Trolley Museum presents Homeschool Day! The entire Museum will be open for Homeschoolers.

Students will have the chance to participate in an educational tour learning about the trolley era history lead by a museum docent. Additionally, make your own Junior Motorman hat, navigate through the Visitors Center using a scavenger hunt, dress-up as a motorman in the Imagination Center, sit on a fire truck and ride an antique streetcar. Museum admission, activities, and Fire Truck Museum entrance are included with your admission. This event is for students K-12th grade. Bagged lunch recommended.

Memorial Day

Join us to remember those who sacrificed for our country while enjoying all the Museum has to offer. The Trolley Museum will honor all military personnel, including veterans, with free admission. Military ID or paperwork must be shown to receive free admission.
