Winter Fun at the Connecticut Trolley Museum
The Connecticut Trolley Museum presents Winter Events & Operating Schedule.
Starting February 1st through March 29th, the Connecticut Trolley Museum will be open on Saturdays (weather permitting) to offer visitors a chance to explore its incredible collection and experience hands-on fun. Beginning in April, the Museum will expand its hours and be open every weekend including April Vacation Week and the Easter Eggspress Event.
With something for everyone, the Museum invites guests to discover the rich history of trolleys, fire trucks, and more through interactive exhibits and engaging activities: Trolley Rides-Take a ride on our historic trolleys, operated by period-dressed motormen who will share fascinating insights about each car and the origins of the Museum, Trolley Experiences- Climb aboard stationary trolleys from our impressive collection in the Visitors Center. From streetcars to interurban cars, this is your chance to get hands-on, take the controls, and let your imagination take you for a ride, Crafting Station- Create your own Motorman Hat, design a trolley fare ticket, and more! Take home your one-of-a-kind creations as keepsakes from your visit, Dress-Up Station- Step into the shoes of a Motorman or Conductor with our fun dress-up station! A perfect photo opportunity for all ages, LEGO Station- Let your creativity soar as you build your own trolley and train creations with LEGO bricks. Once finished, display your masterpiece for all to enjoy throughout the week, Fire Truck Museum- Don’t miss the chance to explore over 15 fire trucks, dating back to 1923, along with a variety of historic firefighting equipment. Admission to the Fire Truck Museum is included with your Trolley Museum ticket. Join us for a weekend adventure filled with history, creativity, and fun!
February 15th Valentines for Volunteers Open House– A chance to meet the dedicated volunteers who help keep the Connecticut Trolley Museum running and to learn more about volunteer opportunities. Discover how you can contribute your skills to the fabric of our museum or join us to learn and grow – no prior experience needed! Feel free to stay for the whole time, or pop in and out as it works for your schedule. We will have presentations, tours and trolley rides throughout the day, and an opportunity for you to see some of our teams at work. In case of inclement weather, the event would be postponed to Saturday, February 22, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Registration is required at www.ct-trolley.org.
February 15th, join us for a heartwarming celebration of love and creativity at our special Valentine’s Day event, Love on the Rails. Whether you’re spending the day with family, friends, or that special someone, we have a variety of activities to make your Valentine’s Day unforgettable!
Event Highlights:
- Kids’ Valentine Card-Making Station: Let your little ones unleash their creativity and design their own unique Valentine’s cards to share with loved ones.
- Love Letter Writing for Adults: Take a moment to write a heartfelt love letter for someone special, and we’ll take care of mailing it for you!
- Valentine’s Day Photo Opportunities: Capture the moment in our beautifully decorated museum and take home a perfect keepsake of your day.
- Valentine’s Treats: Warm up with a cup of hot chocolate and indulge in Valentine’s-themed cookies, available for purchase at the event.
In addition to the activities, don’t miss a ride on our festive, heart-adorned trolley, creating a romantic and charming atmosphere for all. Guests can also purchase a Trolley Heart dedicated to a loved one, with proceeds supporting vital track maintenance. These beautifully decorated hearts will be proudly displayed in the Visitor Center until March 1st, and you can stop by anytime to view them. Join us for a memorable day of love, fun, and community on February 15th. Whether you’re creating crafts, sharing a special message, or riding the decorated trolley, there’s something for everyone!
March 15th Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a festive twist, Shamrocks and Streetcars! Bring the whole family for a day filled with Irish-inspired fun, history, and hands-on activities that celebrate the contributions of Irish Americans to the trolley system and beyond. Guests can also purchase a Trolley Shamrock dedicated to someone special, with proceeds supporting vital track maintenance. These Shamrocks will be proudly displayed in the Visitor Center until April 1st, and you can stop by anytime to view them.

Admission prices are $13 for Adults, $12 for Seniors (62+), $12 for Youth (ages 12-17), Children (ages 2-11) $9, children under 2 and Museum Members free.
