As of today, Wednesday, April 8, there were 1,418 state residents hospitalized with COVID-19 (up 110 from Tuesday), and 326 deaths (up 49). The number of confirmed cases and tests performed\u00a0 were not available late Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Department of Agriculture Grant Extended<\/strong>
\nThe U.S. Department of Agriculture has extended applications for its Distance Learning and Telemedicine grant program, which helps rural communities better link together through telecommunications to improve education. For example, the program can link teachers to students or medical service providers to patients. Eligible applicants include state and local governments, non-profits and for-profit businesses. The application period ends Friday, April 10.\u00a0More information is available here.<\/a><\/p>\n

Safe Workplace Practices In Essential Businesses

\nAs part of the governor\u2019s latest executive order, essential workplaces must follow guidelines put in place by the Departments of Economic and Community Development and Public Health to develop legally binding statewide rules prescribing additional protective measures to keep employees and customers safe.
