Medical Equipment Fund Drive<\/strong><\/p>\n

This week, we have mailed our fund drive letter to everyone’s home or business. A fund drive in the middle of a pandemic was a difficult decision, thinking most people would be struggling to survive financially themselves. However, after some reflection, I decided that this is exactly the time to do one. In times of national crisis, most people want to help in some way and by donating to your local EMS provider; you are donating right to your own first responders.<\/p>\n

Each year your donations allow us to purchase special medical equipment that is highest on our priority list. This year we are going to be a bit more conservative and purchase more of our everyday medical supplies such as personal protective equipment as soon as it becomes available. The lesson we have learned in this crisis is you must not rely on others in a disaster.<\/p>\n

This year, I want to acknowledge a few of our donors. Last year, we lost our dearest friend Warehouse Point Firefighter Anthony DiMastrantonio. Tony D spent a lifetime giving to our community and in true fashion; he posthumously left a significant donation to the East Windsor Ambulance Association. Even in death, he wanted to help save lives. We have purchased three complete sets of video intubation equipment for our three primary advanced life support ambulances. This important equipment will help save lives. We also lost, Bobbi Mazurek, a local Nurse from Warehouse Point. She regularly arranges for a catered meal for the crews that worked through the Christmas Holiday.<\/p>\n

Donations do come in many forms. Many in our community would rather provide us something more personal and something they can drop off. Since this pandemic began, our crews have received food platters, along with donations of masks, gloves, cleaners, and face shields from private citizens and businesses. Everyone is just trying to do what he or she can and we appreciate all you do.<\/p>\n

Your dedicated first responders do great work all year round, and during this pandemic, they have not skipped a step at great risk to themselves and their families. They have adapted to our new procedures and are on the front lines of this pandemic. The residents of East Windsor can be proud that they receive an excellent Advance Life Support Emergency Medical Service.<\/p>\n
