Congratulations to all the businesses that reopened yesterday. We hope you enjoyed being back together with co-workers and customers, and everyone felt safe and prepared for this important step. We look forward to other segments of the economy opening up over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

By now, most companies planning to open during Phase 1 have read the\u00a0general business and sector-specific rules<\/a>\u00a0and completed the mandatory\u00a0self-certification<\/a>\u00a0process. The importance of these rules can\u2019t be overstated. So many businesses are doing their part to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n

Yesterday Governor Lamont discussed the important issue of enforcement. Local law enforcement and municipalities will inspect businesses and ensure they are complying with the sector rules. In most cases, first violations will result in warnings and education, with penalties escalating for more serious offenses.<\/p>\n

Residents and employees can report violations using the state\u2019s online\u00a0<\/strong>Reopen CT Complaint Form<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong>\u00a0After submitting the form, they will receive a customized response containing contact information for local law enforcement, local public health, CONN-OSHA, or OSHA.<\/p>\n

Governor Lamont also confirmed that hair salons and barber shops can open on June 1 and Phase 2 will begin around June 20. Phase 2 includes the opening of hotels, restaurants (indoor dining), fitness centers, movie theaters and more.<\/p>\n
