{"id":9528,"date":"2023-01-21T08:12:23","date_gmt":"2023-01-21T13:12:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eastwindsorchamber.com\/site\/?p=9528"},"modified":"2023-01-21T08:14:14","modified_gmt":"2023-01-21T13:14:14","slug":"whpl-receives-matching-95335-granthow-you-can-help","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eastwindsorchamber.com\/site\/whpl-receives-matching-95335-granthow-you-can-help\/","title":{"rendered":"WHPL receives &#8220;Matching $95,335 Grant&#8221;(How You can Help)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><em><strong>Connecticut State Library Board awards Warehouse Point Library Construction Grant for <\/strong><\/em><em><strong>\u00a0&#8220;Welcoming Entry Construction Project&#8221; and Your Donations will Help!<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eastwindsorchamber.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/WHPL-Dino-and-contact.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"683\" height=\"229\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eastwindsorchamber.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/WHPL-Dino-and-contact-300x101.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.eastwindsorchamber.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/WHPL-Dino-and-contact-628x211.jpg 628w, https:\/\/www.eastwindsorchamber.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/WHPL-Dino-and-contact-680x229.jpg 680w, https:\/\/www.eastwindsorchamber.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/WHPL-Dino-and-contact.jpg 683w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Library Association of Warehouse Point was awarded one of five library construction grants by the Connecticut State Library Board on Monday, November 28.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Once the library has reached their funding goal, the &#8220;M<em>atching $95,335 Grant&#8221;<\/em> will be used to provide access to a remodeled Main Street entrance.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Town of East Windsor&#8217;s Plan of Conservation and Development has proposed actions which include streetscape enhancements to the Warehouse Point center to improve pedestrian and bicycle connections and increase residential density. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Library supports this proposal and has planned to update and revitalize our front entry on Main Street that has been closed for more than 30 years.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The &#8220;Goal of the Welcoming Entry Construction Project&#8221; is to better serve the members of our community by providing a safe and welcoming entrance on Main Street. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>One exciting aspect is a the placement of a new electronic sign outside which will inform patrons of upcoming events. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Visitors walking on Main Street will find a repaved Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant walkway leading up to the door and an ADA compliant lobby will be constructed for the Main Street entrance to the library.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The glass doors and walls of the lobby will add more light brightening the interior of the building, inviting people in, and making library services more visible to the community.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Once inside the building, a modern circulation desk will welcome patrons as they enter past displays of new books. Windows near the handicapped ramp to the upper level of the children\u2019s department will be upgraded to tempered glass to increase safe access on the ramp. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Library construction project is being paid for, in part, with state funds provided by the Connecticut State Library. The Library Association of Warehouse Point promotes freedom to read and freely chose from all sources of information and knowledge provided in the Library collection.
