Our Communities Scouts are just so awesome – here is the update on the record broken in Pantry donations by Cubmaster Manny Jacques.

Good Evening East Windsor!

I wanted to make a video for this but I’m short on time today and wanted to get the news out ASAP. The Scouting for Food Drive has been a staple in this community for over 30 years now. If you are new to town, a quick run down for you. Every year Cub Scout Pack 89 hosts the food drive with the help of Troop 89 and the Girl Scouts of East Windsor. We hand deliver roughly 5,000 bags and flyers out and the following weekend we go back out and pick them up. We gather the donations from your porch and deliver them to the AWESOME volunteers at the Five Corner Cupboard Food Pantry. From there, the donations are sorted, date checked and then transported to the pantry for weighing and stocking.
Now the fun part. We set a pretty high goal this year of 20,000 pounds. 2,000 more than last year. Well, the time has come you have all been waiting for. The final weigh-in has been completed and the numbers are in.
Drum roll please….. 
WE DID IT!! WE BROKE OUR GOAL! 22,000 POUNDS OF DONATIONS!! THAT’S JUST THE FOOD! That does not count the bathroom essentials, diapers, pet food and other non food items. That means since covid, we have collected just north of 100,000 pounds of donations!
The food donated this year alone provides over 25,000 meals for our families in need. Thank you to all the Scouts of East Windsor, the pantry volunteers and all the extra helpers we had sorting the food as it came in. Also a VERY BIG THANK YOU to this community. You all have been a huge part in making and breaking our goal every year. None of this would be possible without all of you and your continued support over the last 30 plus years. If you see a Scout out there, let them know how awesome they are. They deserve all the positive words they can get. Until next time East Windsor!
